Charitable gaming fundraisers consists of both poker tournaments and casino games at Monte Carlo events in which the proceeds are used to fund the activities of tax-exempt nonprofit organizations. Oregon law allows for both the use of poker tournaments and similar casino games at Monte Carlo fundraising events. The event encompasses casino-style gambling, using cards, dice and roulette wheels for entertainment purposes. Players wager and win chips, not real money, to exchange for non-cash prizes or use them for a chance to win prizes at an auction.
Organizations exempt from paying federal income taxes may conduct charitable gaming fundraisers in Oregon. This includes public agencies and public schools. Private organizations qualify if they are active nonprofits. An organization must have held tax-exempt status for at least one year and been engaged in its charitable, fraternal or religious purpose during that time. City Limits Casino Parties serves the Oregon Coast areas from Florence to Port Orford, while being based out of Coos Bay.
